Ever felt stuck in life? Like no matter what you do, you just can’t move forward?

I have.

And while this image might come from a funny moment in a movie, feeling stuck in real life is anything but funny.

When I Was Stuck in Addiction - and in Recovery

For years, I was stuck. First in active alcoholism and addiction, and later in early recovery. Addiction was a misery that’s still difficult to describe, but being stuck in life and recovery was a close second.

The truth is, we often need help to get unstuck, no matter what the circumstances are.

I stayed stuck in active addiction because I couldn’t imagine a life without the ability to shut everything out. A life with no way to quiet my mind, numb my emotions, or escape reality.

In short, I was terrified of being sober.

It wasn’t until the pain of my present became greater than my fear of a sober future that I became open to help.

Getting Stuck After Getting Sober

That same dynamic can happen in recovery, or even for anyone who isn’t struggling with addiction but still feels trapped in a life that doesn’t feel right.

That was me too. I wasn’t drinking anymore, but I wasn’t fulfilled either. I was stuck emotionally and stuck professionally.

Once again, it took pain to push me into action. When the pain of staying the same finally exceeded my fear of change, I became ready.

But readiness wasn’t enough. I needed guidance. I needed direction.

How Coaching Can Help

This is where life and recovery coaching can make a difference.

Sometimes we just need someone to help us see what’s possible again - to help us turn the wheel, gain traction, and move toward a life we don’t want to escape from.

As a Life & Recovery Coach, I work with people who feel stuck - in recovery, in their careers, or just in life in general. Together, we identify what’s keeping them stuck and create a path forward based on their strengths, values, and goals.

If you or someone you know is feeling stuck in recovery, work, or life, I’d be happy to talk. The first session is free. No pressure, just a conversation to see if it feels like a good fit.
